Visit the British Telecom phone directory website (see references below). Select the "Residential" option and enter the person's name. If you have a city or street name it makes the search more focused.
Search the Internet using a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo!. There is a chance that the person you're looking for has left messages on forums, blogs or postings around the Internet. Add city or regional information to return more relevant results. When searching a full name, make sure to put the name in quotes. For example: "John Doe".
Log on to social networks. Sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and Linkedin have millions of members--including a large percentage of the UK population. Use their search facilities to find a person by name. If you also know their approximate location, for example their city, then you can narrow the search. Use private messaging functions on the social network to send a message to the person.
Enter the person's name into the search box on the UK Electoral Roll website (see references). This website lists all UK voters--however there is a charge for use. Charges for full name search access for one month are £2.95 in 2010 (approximately $4.50).
Check Friends Reunited. This website was popular in the UK before Facebook and Myspace took off. Many people still have profiles and information available on the site. Friends Reunited is free to use. It lists the schools and colleges that individuals attended. This may help get an idea of a location to focus your search on.
