Tours of Northern European Capitals

The countries in Northern Europe are known for history, culture and beauty. Sweden, Norway, Holland and Finland have rich cultures that are showcased in their capital cities. The cities of Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Helsinki are a lot to take in. Many feel it is best to take a guided tour to be sure to see all the sights worth seeing.
  1. Grand Tour of Helsinki

    • Helsinki is the capital and the largest city in Finland. This tour is run by the city and is approximately 105 minutes long. The tour departs from the Olympia terminal of the train station every day at 10:30 a.m., as of 2011.The city provides shuttles at most of the capital's hotels that pick guests up 30 to 60 minutes before the departure of the tour.

      Some of the highlights include Senate Square, the Presidential Palace, City Hall, Temppeliaukio Church, the Parliament building, and the Opera House. This tour does not include food or a return to the hotel and rates vary depending on the time of year.

    Stockholm Grand Tour

    • Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. Its city-run grand tour lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes. Passengers will see the city by a combination of bus and boat. The tour is audio guided and available in English, Swedish, Italian, Spanish, German, French or Spanish.

      The tour departs twice daily and the first is usually at 9:30 a.m., with the second is at 2:30 p.m. The departure point is Gustav Adolfs Torg. Some of the highlights of the tour are Stockholm's Royal Palace, City Hall, Museum of Modern Art, Vasa Museum and various other tourist attractions.

    Amsterdam City Tour

    • Amsterdam is the capital of Holland and this tour is run by the city. The tour's duration is 2 hours and 45 minutes, and guests will travel by bus and boat. The tour departs every 30 minutes from 10 a.m.. to 5 p.m. and until 8 p.m. in August.

      The tour is available in 15 languages such as English, Dutch, Spanish, French, Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and others. The departure point is Damrak 34, which is right near the train station. Some of the highlights are the diamond factory, the red light district, Amstel River, Skinny Bridge and others.

    Oslo Grand Tour

    • Oslo is the capital of Norway and the city offers a full-day grand tour lasting 7 hours and 30 minutes. Guests will see the city by boat and bus. The tour departs daily at 10:30 a.m. from Pier 3, right in front of city hall. Guest are dropped off at the same spot. Hotel pick up and drop off is not offered.

      Some of the highlights of the tour presented by a local guide include the Polarship Farm, Kon-Tiki Museum, Maritime Museum, Norwegian Folk Museum, Viking ships and the Holmenkollen ski jump . Included in the tour is the entrance fees to various museums.
