Night Tours of D.C.

Washington, D.C., is stunning enough by day with the commanding government buildings and memorials, but at night the city comes to life as the landmarks are illuminated against the dark District of Columbia sky. Whether avid historians, on a family vacation or enjoying a romantic getaway, seeing the sites by night is a special way to experience the nation's capital. Tours are offered in a variety of vehicles including shuttles, open-topped buses and trolleys.
  1. Monuments by Moonlight

    • Old Town Trolley Tours offer the "Monuments by Moonlight" tour, in which you'll see the famous sites of the capital from trolley cars. Professional tour guides provide information and historical anecdotes as you visit the Capitol Building, the White House, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. The tour guides also throw in a few ghost stories about the spirits that supposedly haunt the nation's capital. E-tickets are available, and the tour operates daily (excluding July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas) from Union Station.
