How to Find Hotels In Sana'a, Yemen

Yemen is Saudi Arabia's smaller, more troubled neighbor to the south, and the ancient city of Sana'a is its capitol. The region is currently experiencing intense civil conflicts among rival tribes, making a trip to Yemen inadvisable at this time.

Instructions

  1. Find Accommodations in Sana'a

    • 1

Contact the Yemen Tourism Promotion Board via their Web site, which has links to a number of hotels in Sana'a (see Resources, below). The site also contains other useful information for tourists. You can call the Board at 011 (+967) 1 251 033 from the United States.

    • 2

Book accommodations in the old part of town. Like many cities, Sana'a has a historic district that is quite charming. Hotel accommodations here have great views of some truly amazing ancient architecture and are close to a number of restaurants and shopping opportunities.

    • 3

Rent an apartment. If you require more comfort and privacy than a hotel in Yemen can offer, there are plenty of apartment rentals in Sana'a. Whether it is a private owner found online before your arrival or an apartment rental company referred by your travel agent, apartments in Sana'a are inexpensive and offer most of the comforts of home.

    • 4

Stay at one of Sana'a's language schools. If you are in Yemen to learn Arabic, consider staying on campus at a language school. These dorm-like accommodations are relatively inexpensive and in close proximity to your classes. If all you need is a bed, a desk and a lamp, these are great, uncomplicated places to stay.

    Navigate Sana'a

    • 5

Hire a driver. Roads in Sana'a, and in Yemen as a whole, are not kept in good repair and are full of random turns that make them hard to navigate. Hiring a local driver makes for a more pleasant trip.
