Why is beijiing known as the forbidden city?

Beijing is not referred to as the “Forbidden City". The Forbidden City is a palatial complex in Beijing, China, and used to be a former Chinese imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. This palatial museum is currently referred to as The Palace Museum due to its rich collection of imperial treasures.
