Motivation for why panfilo de narvaez came to Florida?

Panfilo de Narvaez came to Florida in 1528 in search of riches and fame. He was a Spanish explorer who had previously participated in the conquest of Mexico under Hernán Cortés. Narvaez believed that Florida was home to a vast treasure of gold and silver, and he was determined to find it. He assembled a fleet of ships and set sail from Spain with a group of about 600 men.
