San Marino is not located in Italy. It is an independent country completely surrounded by Italy. It is an enclave situated on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains, on the Adriatic Sea's Rimini coastline. The surrounding Italian regions are Emilia-Romagna to the north and the south and Marche to the west.
