Honolulu and the International Date Line: No Fixed Distance

The International Date Line (IDL) is an imaginary, zigzagging line roughly following 180° longitude—not a fixed location with a measurable distance from Honolulu.

Honolulu (157.8° W) lies ~22° east of the nominal 180° meridian (~1,500 miles / 2,400 km), but the IDL deviates significantly to avoid splitting nations. Distance varies by latitude and the IDL's current political alignment.
