Is Water Unsustainable in Singapore? The Reality

Contrary to the premise, water in Singapore is highly sustainable. Despite having no natural aquifers and limited land, Singapore has achieved water security through a diversified "Four National Taps" strategy:

1. Local Catchment: Rainwater collected in 17 reservoirs.
2. Imported Water: Agreements with Malaysia (expiring 2061).
3. NEWater: High-grade reclaimed water from treated used water (meets 40% of demand).
4. Desalination: Seawater reverse osmosis (meets 30% of demand).

Additional measures include massive public conservation campaigns, smart metering, and R&D into atmospheric water generation and underground storage. Today, Singapore meets 100% of its water needs without relying solely on external sources.
