Is Chicago and Illinois located on a bay?

Chicago and the US state of Illinois are not located on a bay. Chicago is a city located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. Illinois is a midwestern US state that is bordered by Lake Michigan to the northeast and the Mississippi River to the west.
