How did Hawaii and Alaska get drifted off North America?

Neither Hawaii nor Alaska were ever drifted off North America. Both Hawaii and Alaska are part of the North American continental landmass. Hawaii was formed by volcanic eruptions over the Pacific Plate, while Alaska formed by the collision of several microplates with the North American Plate.
