When was western coast mapped?

In 1779, Captain James Cook completed his third and final voyage of exploration when he explored much of the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America, spending an entire winter in Nootka Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island to map the coastline of present-day Alaska and Western Canada in great detail.
