- Indian Ocean. Third largest covering approximately 74.9 million square kilometers (approximately 29 million square miles).
- Arctic Ocean. Smallest covering approximately 14.06 million square kilometers (approximately 5.43 million square miles).
The Southern Ocean is not considered an ocean as defined by the International Hydrographic Organization. It is recognized by some institutions, such as the National Geographic Society, as the fifth ocean encircling Antarctica and containing parts of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.
