Saipan is not part of Hawaii. Saipan is the largest island of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth in the western Pacific Ocean, about 1,200 miles (1,900 km) northeast of Guam. Hawaii is a U.S. state located in the central Pacific Ocean, about 2,400 miles (3,800 km) east of Saipan.
