Why are there more cities along the pacific rim than ocean?

This statement isn't entirely accurate. While there are many major cities located along the Pacific Ocean's coastline, known as the Pacific Rim, there are numerous cities situated throughout the ocean. Some examples of major cities along the Pacific Ocean include:

On the other hand, there are also many cities distributed across various islands and atolls within the Pacific Ocean. These cities may be smaller in size compared to the coastal metropolises, but they still play important roles in their respective regions. Here are a few examples of cities within the Pacific Ocean:
