Is There a City Directly Across the Atlantic from Richmond, VA?

No single city lies due east of Richmond, Virginia, across the Atlantic.

Richmond (37.5° N, 77.4° W) sits on the James River, ~100 mi from the coast. A great-circle line due east crosses:

  • Atlantic Ocean (open water)
  • Passes south of the Azores (Portugal)
  • Hits mainland Africa near Casablanca, Morocco (33.6° N)—but that’s ~4° south of due east.

The nearest European landfall is northern Portugal / Galicia (~42° N), which is northeast, not due east. The Atlantic is vast; "directly across" is a great-circle, not a latitude line, and it misses major cities.
