Who is the Hudson bay named after?

The Hudson Bay was named after the English explorer Henry Hudson, who was the first European to explore the bay in 1610. Hudson was hired by the English Muscovy Company to find a northern passage to Asia. He sailed into the bay while searching for a route to the Pacific Ocean. During his exploration of Hudson Bay, he spent the winter in James Bay, where he and his crew suffered from scurvy and mutiny. Hudson was eventually set adrift by his crew and was never seen again.
