Why is Mumbai called the Manchester of India?

Mumbai is not known as the Manchester of India; Ahmedabad holds that title. Ahmedabad, located in Gujarat, earned the moniker Manchester of India during British rule for its bustling textile industry which closely resembled the thriving textile industry of Manchester, England during the industrial revolution.
