Is there any barrel vaulting at the Cathedral of St John Divine in New York City?

There is no barrel vaulting in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. One of the most famous architectural features of the cathedral is the crossing under the central tower. Instead of barrel vaults, the crossing features four ribs springing from slender grouped shafts that continue down the four piers. These ribs form pointed arches that meet in a complex web of ribbed vaulting.
