UK and the Kyoto Protocol: Signed and Ratified

The United Kingdom signed the Kyoto Protocol (adopted 1997, in force 2005) and committed to a binding target: 12.5% emissions reduction from 1990 levels by 2012.

The UK met this target through domestic policies and EU emissions trading.
