How many people visit York every year?

In 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic impacted tourism, York welcomed an estimated 8.4 million visitors. Of these, around 6.1 million were domestic visitors and 2.3 million were international visitors. These figures do not include day visitors, who make up a significant proportion of those visiting York.
