Is there such a county as Greater Manchester?

Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county in North West England. It was created in 1974 as a merger of the former counties of Lancashire and Cheshire. Greater Manchester includes the cities of Manchester, Salford, and Stockport, as well as several towns and villages.
