There have been no "Kings of England" since 1707, when the Acts of Union created the Kingdom of Great Britain. After Queen Victoria's death in 1901, her son Edward VII succeeded as King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (later United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). Subsequent monarchs—George V, Edward VIII, George VI, Elizabeth II, and Charles III—have all reigned over the United Kingdom, not England alone.
