Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Its beautiful scenery, beaches, nightclubs and outdoor activities like boating, swimming and hiking make the state quite attractive to visitors. Retirees and seniors often choose to live in Ocala, a city in north central Florida. Ocala has museums, a historic district and its own symphony. It is also close to Ocala National Forest and the Silver Springs nature theme park. There are several mobile home communities for people 55 years or older in Ocala, which offer lot rentals and both used and new home sales.
Golden Pond Village is a 55+ community set in a shady, landscaped area with oak tress and hanging moss. Residents are less than one mile from the Florida Greenway, grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. The park is also close to the town of Belleview, south of Ocala. Golden Pond Village has homes for sale and rent, as well as a number of recreational vehicle spaces. The park clubhouse offers a full kitchen, meeting facilities and billiards. Golden Pond has its own pond and shuffleboard courts. It offers planned activities such as karaoke, theme nights and bingo for residents as well. As of 2010, mobile home park lots started at $250 per month, which included water and sewer services. Cottage rentals were $3,995 per year and RV spaces were $230 per month in low season, $395 per month in high season, although a 12-month rental drops the fee to $220 per month for the entire year.
