Why did settlers come from England?

The settlers from England came to America for religious, political, and economic reasons.

Religious reasons

Many of the early settlers were Puritans or other religious dissenters who sought to escape religious persecution in England. They believed that the Church of England was corrupt and that they should be able to worship God freely according to their own beliefs.

Political reasons

Some settlers came to America to escape the political oppression of the English monarchy. They believed that they could establish a more just and democratic society in the New World.

Economic reasons

Many settlers came to America to seek economic opportunity. They were lured by the promise of cheap land, plentiful resources, and the opportunity to start their own businesses.

Other reasons

In addition to these main reasons, there were a number of other factors that contributed to the English migration to America. These included:

* The desire for adventure

* The lure of the unknown

* The opportunity to start a new life
