What happened to most people who were sent the Tower of London?

The majority of people who were sent to the Tower of London did not die there. The Tower was used for a variety of purposes, including imprisonment, torture, and execution, but it was also used as a royal residence and a place of safekeeping for valuable objects. Many people who were sent to the Tower were eventually released, either after serving their sentences or after being pardoned.
