The premise is inverted. The original World Trade Center towers (1973–2001) were taller than the Eiffel Tower:

• WTC North Tower (1 WTC): 417 m (1,368 ft) roof, 527 m (1,727 ft) with antenna
• WTC South Tower (2 WTC): 415 m (1,362 ft) roof
• Eiffel Tower: 300 m (984 ft) original, 324 m (1,063 ft) with current antenna (added 1957, 2000, 2022)

One World Trade Center (2014, "Freedom Tower"): 541 m (1,776 ft) — tallest in Western Hemisphere.

The Eiffel Tower was the world's tallest structure 1889–1930 (Chrysler Building surpassed it). The WTC towers held the record 1971–1973 (surpassed by Sears/Willis Tower).
