When did Carlisle become part of England?
Carlisle is a city in Cumbria, England. It was founded by the Romans in the 2nd century AD and was known as Luguvalium. The city was part of the Roman province of Britannia and was the capital of the civitas Carvetiorum. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Carlisle was controlled by the Britons, the Angles, and the Scots. In the 10th century, it became part of the Kingdom of England.
