When was the city of Phoenix started?

The city of Phoenix was founded on April 13, 1868, by a group of settlers led by Jack Swilling. The settlers were initially drawn to the area for its agricultural potential, and they quickly established a farming community. In the late 1800s, Phoenix began to grow rapidly, thanks in part to its favorable climate and its location as a major transportation hub. By the early 20th century, Phoenix had become one of the largest cities in the American Southwest.
