New York's Delegate Counts for the 2024 Presidential Nominating Conventions

Delegate Allocation (2024 Cycle)

New York sends the following delegates to the national nominating conventions:

• Democratic National Convention: 291 delegates (268 pledged, 23 automatic/unpledged).
• Republican National Convention: 95 delegates (bound by primary results).

Context

• Democratic delegates: allocated proportionally by congressional district + statewide; 15% threshold.
• Republican delegates: winner-take-most by congressional district + statewide; rules vary by state party.
• Numbers include at-large, district, PLEO (party leaders), and automatic (DNC members, elected officials) for Dems.

New York's large Democratic delegation reflects its deep-blue lean; Republican delegation is modest but pivotal in a close primary.
