Are There Any U.S. Cities Named Nineveh?

Despite the historical weight of the name, there are currently no incorporated cities or towns in the United States named Nineveh.

The name Nineveh belongs to one of antiquity's greatest metropolises—the capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Located on the eastern bank of the Tigris River in what is now northern Iraq, near the modern city of Mosul, ancient Nineveh was a center of culture, learning, and power before its fall in 612 BCE.

While many U.S. settlements bear names drawn from classical antiquity (like Athens, Rome, or Troy), Nineveh has not been adopted as a municipal name. It remains primarily a reference to the archaeological site and its biblical significance.
