How many states of US are not attached to its mainland?

There are only 2 states that are not attached to the U.S. mainland. They are:

1. Alaska, which is located in the northwest corner of North America and is separated from the rest of the country by Canada.

2. Hawaii, which is an archipelago located in the central Pacific Ocean.
