White County features a variety of parks located throughout its communities with many recreational opportunities including picnic pavilions, playgrounds, sports fields and walking trails. The town of Searcy, located centrally within White County, has a series of walking/biking trails that circle the city as well a community sports complex with Frisbee golf, softball and baseball fields. Friendly Acres Park located in the community of Judsonia features a fishing pond, pavilion and wooded walking trail.
The White County fair located on the county fairgrounds in Searcy, Arkansas, runs during the second week of September. It has an exhibit area with several livestock categories as well as exhibits of horticulture, crafts and artwork. There are nightly events held in the grandstand area including a horse show, rodeo and demolition derby. The fair also has a midway with games and rides along with a food vendor area.
The Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge is made up of more than 15,000 acres of wetlands and croplands that are a critical habitat for migrating birds. The White River runs through the refuge, feeding the wetlands vital water and allowing for quality fishing. The refuge is open to waterfowl hunting for ducks and geese as well as whitetail deer. Visitors can enjoy bird-watching as the forestland holds a variety of species from around the northern U.S. during the winter months. The refuge requires a $5 daily entrance fee as of 2011 and hunters are required to apply for permits specific to the animal type.
Center on the Square is a performing arts center located within the community of Searcy. It offers several theater performances throughout the year with all-volunteer actors and actresses. The shows are set in a dinner theater format with guests receiving cocktails, a main entree and dessert. The Center on the Square features a children's stage with performances by young people who receive acting lessons from the resident acting coach.
