Fairmont is a town located in the North Central region of West Virginia and holds the nickname "The Friendly City." The town has a variety of sites and attractions to entertain visitors such as museums and farmer's markets and many activities that are geared toward the entertainment of kids who are visiting the area.
Coal Country Miniature Golf and Batting Cages, on Coal Country Lane, offers many activities for kids to participate in. There is an 18-hole miniature golf course that has a different featured theme at each hole, automatic feeding batting cages, a snack bar and picnic area. Kids using the batting cages may bring their own equipment or use the equipment that is provided. Coal Country is set up for larger groups and parties as well as individuals and families.
Pricketts Fort is a historical museum located on State Park Entrance Road in Fairmont. The park is site to several historic structures that were built during the 18th century and offers a look into history for visitors. Kids can walk through the structures, which include Pricketts Fort, a blacksmith shop and Job Prickett house. In addition, there is a visitor center and gift shop. The site also offers a summer camp during the months of June and July, where kids can learn how residents of the fort survived.
Valley Falls is a kid-friendly location that offers a variety of recreational opportunities. The park has 18 miles of hiking trails, a waterfall, the remains of what was once a sawmill and grist mill, playground and picnic area with shelter house rentals available. The park also has biking trails. Additionally, there is parking area, bathrooms and drinking fountains.
Valley Worlds of Fun, on Pleasant Valley Road, is a family entertainment center that has a wide array of kid-friendly activities. The facility sits on seven acres and has bowling lanes, an arcade and laser tag. Valley Worlds also has a variety of rides like bumper boats and tea cups. There is an on-site cafe, which offers such foods as burgers, fries and hot dogs. There are also facilities for large groups and parties.
