Millburn is a township located in Essex County in northern New Jersey about 30 minutes west of Manhattan. Millburn features such attractions as the Paper Mill Playhouse, the state theater of New Jersey, the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary and the Mall at Short Hills. Basilico is a casual restaurant that offers diners northern Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner in the heart of downtown Millburn. While Basilico is primarily a BYOB restaurant, it does feature wines from the nearby Amwell Valley Vineyard. Lunch specials at Basilico include carpaccio di manzo, which is kobe beef with arugula and parmigano, as well as tartara di tonno, a tuna and cucumber salad. Basilico’s dinner specialties include the crema di funghi--a cream of wild mushroom soup--and volgole a piacere, clams in parsley sauce.
Café Monet is a casual French bistro located in downtown Millburn. Café Monet offers breakfast, lunch and dinner service Tuesday through Sunday. The breakfast and lunch menu at the restaurant features organic chicken, croissant French toast, spinach and tomato lasagna brulee and pissaladiere. The dinner menu includes duck brandy sage pate, ginger scallops and rack of lamb. As of January 2011, Café Monet also provides specials, such as a $24.95 pre-theater dinner special for people with tickets to the Paper Mill Playhouse.
La Cara Mia offers upscale Italian cuisine and is located across from the Millburn Train Station within walking distance of the Paper Mill Playhouse. La Cara Mia is open for lunch and dinner all week. Lunch offerings at La Cara Mia include penne rustica, linguine vongole, grilled shrimp della casa and veal sorrentina. The dinner menu at La Cara Mia includes shrimp gorgonzola, calamari balsamico, eggplant rollatini and chicken scarpariello. La Cara Mia also has a large banquet room available for rent.
Tinga Taqueria offers fresh Mexican and barbecue cuisine in downtown Millburn. As of January 2011, specials at Tinga Taqueria include their Jackson menu, which offers to feed a family of four for only $20. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Mexican offerings at Tinga Taqueria include quesadillas, salads, tacos and burritos, while barbecue options include buffalo wings, baby back ribs and chicken tinga.
