Italian Restaurants on Route 202 in Pennsylvania

Route 202 is a U.S. highway that runs through eight states. It begins in New Castle, Delaware--a town just south of Wilmington--and ends in Bangor, Maine. Along the way, it cuts through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In Pennsylvania, the 59-mile stretch of 202 passes through the commercial districts of West Chester, King of Prussia and Doylestown.

  1. West Chester

    • Pescatore’s sits on Route 202 in Glen Mills, a small borough just south of West Chester. The menu offers traditional Italian fare and daily specials in a casual environment. Local attractions include the nearby Concordville Mall, the Golf Course at Glen Mills and the Glen Mills School for Boys. This restaurant offers banquet seating for up to 70.

Teca lies right in the heart of West Chester and consists of three venues. It offers a first floor restaurant with Italian food served tapas-style, a 300-bottle wine bar recognized by Wine Spectator magazine as one of the best in the country and a second-floor nightclub. The nightclub opens on Friday and Saturday nights and has a dress code. Nearby attractions include West Chester University, whose undergraduate and graduate programs enroll about 15,000 students. The television shopping network QVC has its home in nearby West Goshen, with daily tours and shopping open to the public.

    King of Prussia

    • The 200-plus stores at the King of Prussia Court and Plaza have made this small town synonymous with shopping. A number of Italian restaurants, pizzerias and cafes occupy spots in and around the mall. Among these is the chain restaurant Maggiano’s Little Italy, which provides a huge dining area to go along with its enormous family-sized dishes. Pepper’s Italian Restaurant lies just north of the mall and offers casual Italian dining for lunch and dinner while also accommodating banquets.

    Doylestown

    • The Ristorante Paganini lies on the State Street section of Route 202 in downtown Doylestown. In addition to the dining area, this restaurant offers a small café for morning and afternoon cappuccinos and a take-out gourmet shop that sells Italian meats and cheeses and in-house made sauces.
Those who enjoy BYOB, or “Bring Your Own Bottle” dining can stop in at Domani Star, a small Italian bistro in downtown Doylestown. This restaurant opens seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

Doylestown sits a short ride away from two notable tourist attractions, Peddler’s Village and New Hope. Both of these destinations offer boutique shopping. New Hope sits on the Delaware River and is home to the Bucks County Playhouse, which has offered professional quality Broadway musicals and plays since 1939.
