Restaurants in NYC on Top of Buildings

With its towering skyscrapers, twinkling lights and bustling sidewalks, New York City, as seen from above, is truly a sight to behold. The world-famous skyline features iconic buildings and architecture from the Empire State and Chrysler buildings, Rockefeller Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central Station and, of course, the Statue of Liberty.       Asiate, on the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, features floor-to-ceiling views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The restaurant's contemporary menu features Asian influences and rotates seasonally to match the views of the park and the freshest ingredients. Highlights include butter poached lobster, Wagyu beef and black sesame cake. Asiate is also home to more than 1,300 different wines.

    The Heights Bar and Grill

    • Aside from tapas, burgers, burritos, margaritas and martinis, patrons of The Heights will also find a four season, third floor rooftop deck with a retractable roof. A family-run restaurant, The Heights offers two happy hours each day, brunch service on weekends, and a view of Broadway. The rooftop space is available for private functions for 40 to 75 people.

    Highbar

    • Watch the sun set across the Hudson River at Highbar.

      The Highbar website describes this restaurant as a "chic rooftop oasis" located on the 16th floor. With outdoor and covered seating areas, Highbar offers views of the sun setting over the Hudson River and a menu of grilled items such as burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and quesadillas. Drunken watermelon--fruit doused with alcohol--is also available, served with the liquor of choice.

    ROBERT at the Museum of Arts and Design

    • ROBERT is on the 9th floor of the Museum of Arts and Design. Replete with views of Columbus Circle, Central Park and Broadway, ROBERT features a prix-fixe brunch menu and lunch and dinner menus that include items like crispy ricotta gnocchi, lobster pot pie and rack of lamb. Seating options include sofas in the central lounge or seats near the windows and their expansive views. On Wednesday through Saturday evenings, ROBERT features a live pianist.

    The Roof at Aretsky's Patroon

    • The Roof at Aretsky's Patroon features a full-service weekday lunch menu including braised beef stew, grilled salmon, spit roasted chicken, warm duck salad and seared Yellowfin tuna burgers along with a revolving prix-fixe menu. The bar menu, served after 2:30 p.m., includes items such as Angus prime sliders, Maine lobster rolls and Monte Cristo brioche bites. The Roof is open year round though its enclosed during the winter. Aretsky's in located in midtown.

    The View at the New York Marriott Marquis

    • The View at the New York Marriott Marquis spins 360 degrees each hour.

      The View is the only revolving restaurant in Manhattan. Ride the express elevator up to the 48th floor to experience 360 degree views of the New York City skyline. The View features contemporary American cuisine through brunch menus, a pre-theater prix-fixe menu, a buffet dinner and a full service dinner menu. In addition, a tasting menu of regional foods paired with wines is available.
