Greyhound offers daily bus service to and from New York City, as well as buses to other parts of New York state. A route from Buffalo stops in Rochester, and a bus form Albany stops in the small cities of Schenectady, Amsterdam and Utica.
Adirondack/New York/Pine Hill Trailways, run by the Trailways Bus Company, offers stops throughout New York, including Syracuse. The locally based buses, operated from Kingston, New York, offer a more personalized system. Greyhound offers a small discount for tickets purchased on the web, plus 25 percent off for kids ages 2 to 15, when accompanied by an adult paying full fare. Kids under age 2 can ride free. You can secure priority boarding for an extra $5. Trailways offers the same child discounts, but if a child is over age 8 and riding alone, he pays the full adult fare. College students riding Greyhound need to purchase a Student Advantage Card to get a student discount; Trailways customers need only show a college ID.
