There are numerous dining choices at San Francisco International Airport but for travelers on layover who want to get beyond the airport, or those looking for something a little different, there are many restaurants in the vicinity to choose from. Fat Wong's Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant that serves large, reasonably priced meals. It's a family friendly restaurant open 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily. Fat Wong's does not deliver though they will happily package orders to go. And they are a cash-only business. Mouth-watering menu options include porridge, clay pots with choices like braised baby melon and braised eggplant and a wide variety of noodle dishes that come with meats like roasted duck, braised beef ribs or BBQ pork. For those with a taste for the exotically epicurean, organ meats and tripe are also available.
At Patio Filipino the food is a fusion of Spanish and Filipino food. One of the dishes (crispy pata, a deep-fried pork shank) was named to the 2010 SAVEUR List ranking the top 100 food finds in the world. Delectable menu items range from a classic paella (saffron rice with chorizo, mussels, scallops, shrimp and chicken) and escabeche (fish with bell peppers, carrots and a sweet and sour sauce) to lengua champignon (beef tongue stewed with mushrooms) and crispy binagoongan (pork over eggplant with a mango salad).
Toto's creates traditional Italian food using the methods handed down through generations and in 1954 began the first pizza delivery operation in San Francisco. Run by the fifth generation of an Italian family, Toto's is truly a family restaurant. Monday through Wednesday they offer "Family Night Specials," encouraging patrons to take their families out to eat. Specials include family-sized portions of spaghetti, ravioli or pizza alongside salad, garlic bread (pasta only) and a two-liter of soda. Other menu items include lasagna, tortellini, soups, sandwiches and desserts. Dine-in, takeout and delivery services are available.
