Restaurants Near Philadelphia Airport

Few cities in the United States have been as historically important as Philadelphia. Since then, Philadelphia has remained a major center of American art, architecture and education. Philly food is known all over the country as well, especially Philly cheese steaks and hoagies. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is one of the busiest in America, with thousands flying in every day. Visitors to the City of Brotherly Love can find several places to eat within a short distance of PHL.

  1. White Dog Cafe

    • White Dog Cafe is a socially- and environmentally-conscious restaurant started in 1983. White Dog was founded by Judy Wicks, but bought in 2009 by famous Philadelphia businessman Martin Grims. White Dog tries to use organic ingredients and those made only from sustainable, environmentally-friendly sources, such as free-range, pasture fed livestock. Executive Chef Eric Yost has created a menu of American dishes with a number of influences. Guests can order appetizers like wild mushroom soup and tandoor flat bread, then entrees such as orange-ginger tofu, veggie wraps, smoked turkey salad sandwiches and thyme-roasted Amish chicken. White Dog also serves more familiar dishes like filet mignon, burgers and pork chops. The restaurant offers private dining and can accommodate parties from 12 to 175 people. The cafe lies less than ten miles from Philadelphia International Airport.

    Pat’s King of Steaks

    • Those wanting to try some real Philadelphia cuisine can eat at Pat’s King of Steaks. The restaurant is located eight miles from PHL and is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Pat’s started as a hot dog stand in 1930. Legend has it that owner Pat Olivieri was the original inventor of the cheese steak sandwich, formed when he added some chopped meat to an Italian roll for his own lunch. Pat’s is, of course, now known for its cheese steaks. It also still serves hot dogs, as well as pepper steak, pizza steak, mushroom steak and roast pork sandwiches. Though Pat’s is close on Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, it opens again on New Year’s Day.
