Texas Acting Schools

Whether actors work on film or stage, preparation is a key ingredient for success. Actors can work with private coaches or take group classes, and many begin honing their craft at a very young age.   1. Texas Actor's Studio

    • Texas Actor's Studio, located just outside of Dallas, offers professional acting classes for all ages. Both group and private classes are available, and the school specializes teaching acting for film and television work for students age 7 and up. In addition to offering instruction on acting techniques, the school also helps students learn about getting headshots, creating a resume and finding an agent. Beginner's acting classes are eight-week intensive courses and consists of eight private sessions and eight group classes. The school also has monthlong classes and a 48-week master's program.

    KD Studio

    • KD Studio offers a variety of acting classes for both new and experienced actors. Among the types of courses are eight-week evening workshops, a 15-month conservatory program and summer camps for kids ages 11 to 18. The school's eight-week workshops vary in topic from introduction to television commercials to audition technique. Students can also take an introduction to acting class. Separate workshops are available for children as young as 4 years old and include topics such as creative dramatics for kids and how to read cold copy and show personality.

    Young Actors Studio

    • Young Actors Studio offers acting classes for young adults, beginning twice a year--once in the fall and once in the spring. Students who want to begin their work partway through the semester may be accommodated. Courses cover such topics as comedy scripts and improv, monologues and voice-over technique. Students at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels are all welcome to register for courses at the school. All students must audition for every course they take; there is no cost for the audtion process.
