Things to Do in Chicago Loop

Chicago, a.k.a. the Windy City, is a landmark destination for those traveling to Illinois hoping to experience the Midwest's version of the big-city lifestyle.   1. Museum of Science and Industry

    • The Museum of Science and Industry is an ongoing attraction located in the Chicago Loop area. The museum houses a wide array of exhibits that explore the evolution of both science and industry. Highlights of the museum include an exhibit about storms in which guests can experience the sounds and learn about natural events such as tornadoes and lightening. It also has ongoing exhibits about green homes, coal mining, farming technology and various other aspects of both science and industry. An Omnimax theater is also housed within the museum that features science-based, educational films. A variety of other events, live experiences and museum tours are also hosted at the facility.

    Cadillac Palace Theatre

    • The Cadillac Palace Theatre, located in Chicago's Loop section, is one of the venues that showcases Broadway-style shows and productions. The theatre itself is a stunning display of both architectural styling and interior design elements reminiscent of the 1920s and 1930s. The theatre, which opened in 1926, was originally used as a movie film theatre and made the transition to live performances in 1999. The theatre seats 2,500 people and some of the featured performances in the past include well-known productions such as "Mama Mia," "The Lion King" and "Dirty Dancing." The venue has been renovated and remodeled over the years to enhance the acoustics and technology to allow for such productions to take place.

    Millennium Park

    • Millennium Park is a public park located in the Loop section of Chicago. The park spans 24.5 acres and also borders Lake Michigan. The park offers a variety of things to see and do, including walking and touring the various areas. The Great Lawn is a grassy area of the park where guests can relax, have a picnic and take in the massive metal trellis that spans the area. Millennium Park is home to many live events such as fairs, concerts and performances. Contained within the park are additional areas such as a theater, garden, gallery and an indoor cycling center. The park was officially opened in 2004.
