    • La Quinta, roughly seven miles from Palm Desert, is more a small city than a resort. The AAA four-diamond resort covers 45 acres that include 796 casitas, suites and villas, 41 outdoor pools, 13 unlit and 10 lit tennis courts, a 23,000 square foot full-service spa and 53 whirlpools.
