Dinner Cruises to New Hampshire

New Hampshire boasts Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest and deepest spring-fed lake in the state, about 72 square miles. It is centrally located in the Lakes Region, a popular vacation area millions visit each year for holiday pleasure. Several ships offer dinner cruises on Lake Winnipesaukee: the M/S Mount Washington Cruise, the M/V Doris E, the U.S. Mail Boat and the Sophie C. Most people take romantic outings, while others host class reunions or informal company parties.

  1. Mount Washington

    • The M/S Mount Washington is the largest of these cruise ships, with three decks offering views of the mountain ranges surrounding Lake Winnipesaukee. It has been in operation since 1946 and two-hour cruises are offered from Weirs Beach.

Friday nights are dedicated to particular themes, with menus and music to match. One example is “Tribute to Elvis.” Weirs Beach hosts fireworks displays every Friday in July and August, clearly visible from the ship.

    Weekend Dinner Cruise

    • This cruise claims to offer one of the best moments any night can offer in New Hampshire. The nights provide a romantic ambience as the ship sails Lake Winnipesaukee while guests dance on any of the three decks. The Saturday night dinner buffets range from seafood to beef. Prices range from $43 to $49, similar to the Friday Dinner Cruise.

Sunday cruises begin about 4:30 p.m., to allow a sunset view and end at 7 p.m., so guests can conclude the weekend early enough. However, this cruise is only available in September and October. The price is $112 for two adults and two children between the ages of 4 to 12 years; children under age four are free. This amount includes cruise, dinner and entertainment.

    Lobster Clambake

    • Located in Portsmouth under the flagship of the Isle of Shoals Steamship Company, Lobster Clambake River Cruise is reserved for the age 21+ crowd. Passengers enjoy the sunset at Portsmouth Harbour, visit the Great Bay Wilderness Area while treated to New England lobster and other seafood. Live music and three cash bars are available.
