Lake Hopatcong is the largest lake in New Jersey and served as a premier resort in the Northeastern United States beginning in the 1880's. Lake Hopatcong remains a popular destination. Lake Hopatcong is approximately 40 miles from New York City and offers visitors a multitude of recreational activities including boating, swimming, fishing, water sports, and sailboat regattas. The area also offers fine dining, much of it lakeside with open-air options during nice weather.

The Jefferson House Restaurant has been a Lake Hopatcong attraction since 1926 and offers casual lakefront dining. Menu options include appetizers such as scallops wrapped in bacon, Maryland crab cakes, stuffed Portobello mushroom, shrimp cocktail and nachos. Entrée options include chicken parmigiana, pot roast, grilled pork chops, homemade meatloaf, filet mignon, barbecued pork ribs, shrimp scampi, grilled salmon steak, enchiladas, fajitas and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. The restaurant offers banquet facilities which remain open from January through mid-March, when the rest of the restaurant is closed for the winter season.

Gatwyn's II Restaurant and Bar offers Italian-American cuisine. The menu includes sandwiches such as meatball, eggplant or chicken parmigiana; burgers; ribeye steak sandwich; buffalo chicken; hot dogs and a variety of triple deckers. Entree options include New York strip steak, shrimp and clam scampi, penne vodka, chicken francaise, eggplant rollatine, chicken marsala or chicken savoy. The menu options also include extensive appetizer, salad and desert options. Hours on Monday and Tuesday are from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday/Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. Gatwyn's II serves breakfast on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and remain open until 10 p.m. on Sunday night.
