Originally formed by a glacier, Sacandaga Lake (also called Great Sacandaga Lake) and its banks have been inhabited for over 900 years. Tourism in the Sacandaga Lake area began in the 19th century, and it continues strong today. The small towns lining the banks of Sacandaga Lake offer a plethora of restaurants and cuisine choices for you and your family to enjoy.
Located on the south bank of the lake, the Sand Bar Restaurant and Marina offers both food and entertainment. The menu includes such appetizers as fried calamari, fried ravioli, shrimp, chicken tenders and crab cakes. You also have the choice of a soup or salad before your meal. Some of the entrees include burgers, wraps, sandwiches, hot grinders and subs. For larger meals, you can choose from pasta, seafood, ribs or steak. For entertainment, expect to hear acoustic favorites played by local artists or the crooning of karaoke during your meal.

Three generations of the Lanzi family have run Lanzi’s on the Lake on the west side of Sacandaga Lake. Lanzi’s offers a wide variety of appetizers for guests, including appetizers such as Blackened Yellowfin Tuna, Maryland Crab Cakes and Pasta Fagiole. For the main entrée you have your pick from pasta, chicken, seafood, veal and steak, and all entrées include salad and breadsticks. Lanzi’s is more than a simple restaurant, however. It also hosts several events for guests during the summer and winter. Depending on the time of year, you can participate in a reggae festival, home-brewed chili cook off, snowmobile races, volleyball and “frozen lake bakes” – outdoor clambakes in the snow and ice.
