Located 20 minutes south of Buffalo, the town of Hamburg, New York is situated on the shores of scenic Lake Erie. Many restaurants take advantage of the view; you will find a number of establishments dotting Lake Shore Road. Further inland, restaurants of every variety, from fast food to fine dining, cater to the tastes of western New Yorkers.
In many ways, Rodney's on the Lake offers the quintessential Hamburg dining experience. Local favorites like Buffalo wings and roast beef on kimmelweck (a roll studded with kosher salt and caraway seeds) are a available, as are ten varieties of hamburger and plenty of fresh seafood. Rodney's most attractive feature, however, is its stunning views of Lake Erie, which is visible both from the dining room and an outdoor patio. For the late night munchies, Rodney's stays open until midnight every night of the week. Happy hour at the bar lasts from one to five, Monday through Friday.

For more formal occasions, Daniels Restaurant is the place to go for gourmet food in an elegant yet understated atmosphere. According to Buffalo News restaurant critic Janice Okun, "Daniel's excels in the basic reasons serious food people go to restaurants in the first place. The food is well prepared with imagination and an acknowledgment of season; the service is impeccable and there is plenty of choice." Okun gives Daniels four out of four stars. Daily specials feature the freshest of seasonal ingredients. For the value conscience, Daniels offers a $28 three course price Tuesday through Thursday. The wine list leans toward California but features international options as well. Daniels is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner only.

What Curt's lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in value. If you enjoy dining at a counter, this is your spot. Fried bologna, Italian sausages, hot dogs and hamburgers are all available for under five dollars. Wash these greasy treats down with a birch beer served in a mug that comes out frosted.
