    Oriente

    • Owned by singer Gloria Estefan and her husband, Emilio, the upscale Oriente is located in the couple's Coste d'Este Beach Resort. The theme here is Cuban fusion. Cuban cooking is blended with Creole, Latin and Spanish styles. The restaurant serves traditional dinners, but it is better known for its tapas, or "little bites." The menu features a sampler of five different ceviches---delicious servings of citrus-marinated seafood. In addition to the indoor dining area, food and drinks are served closer to the ocean at the outdoor pool and cabana bar. Reservations are recommended.

    Waldo's

    • Located in the historic Driftwood Resort, Waldo's has been serving food and drinks since 1937. Eclectic and casual, both the hotel and restaurant are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The large indoor dining area is air- conditioned and looks out to the pool. The best ocean views are outdoors at the two poolside bars and beachfront lounge. Sandwiches, seafood and burgers are all on the menu. Be sure to try the fries. They are a hit with both adults and kids, and rumored to be the best in the area. Waldo's is open daily for lunch and dinner and also offers a Sunday breakfast buffet. Accommodations and catering are available for weddings and private parties.
