Vicksburg, Mississippi, is about 40 miles west of the state capitol in Jackson. Vicksburg has become the third-largest gaming market in Mississippi since the state legalized riverboat gambling in 1990. The city is home to five casino hotels on the banks of the Mississippi River at the state's central border with Louisiana.
DiamondJacks, opened in August 1993 as an Isle of Capri property, is the oldest casino in Vicksburg. Legends Gaming bought it and changed the name in July 2006. The 30,000-square-foot gaming floor holds more than 800 slot machines and 18 gaming tables. An attached hotel offers 122 guest rooms and an outdoor swimming pool open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The property features two restaurants and a snack bar and an entertainment venue. The DiamondJacks Rewards Club also covers Legend's DiamondJacks property in Bossier City, Louisiana.

The 70,000-square-foot Ameristar is the city's largest casino. Las Vegas-based Ameristar Casinos Inc. opened the property in February 1994 and completed a $100 million expansion in 2008. The gaming floor holds more than 1,700 slot machines, 36 gaming tables and a poker room. The 149-room hotel, remodeled in the 2008 project, includes 18 suites and a season swimming pool and hot tub. The complex features three restaurants, two live-entertainment venues, a VIP lounge, a 67-space RV park and a 1,000-space parking garage. The Star Awards players club covers seven Ameristar properties.

Local ownership group Magnolia Hill LLC spent $100 million to build Riverwalk, which opened in November 2008 as the first new casino in Vicksburg since 1994. The 25,000-square-foot gaming floor features 805 slot machines and 18 gaming tables. A five-story, 80-room hotel opened with the property, which also includes two restaurants. Works by local artists are displayed throughout the property as part of Magnolia Hill's Riverwalk Art Program.
