How to Plan a Day at Magic Kingdom in Disney World

The Magic Kingdom, the first theme park to be completed in the Walt Disney World complex outside of Orlando Florida, is still a favorite of young and old alike. Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom combines the best of Disneyland in California with new technology, more open spaces and ever expanding attractions. The park is divided into five themed areas.

      Buy tickets, available at the park's ticket office or in advance via the Walt Disney World website. Multi-park and multi-day passes are also available and passes are also included in a vast array of vacation packages. The Magic Kingdom is open 365 days a year and hours vary with the season.

      Stroll down Main Street USA, the first area you reach upon entering the Magic Kingdom. Created to resemble a typical small town street in 1890s America, Main Street USA features a penny arcade, taffy shops, an ice cream parlor, a barber shop and a variety of Disney stores. Main Street USA ends at Cinderella's Castle, the entrance to Fantasyland.

      Enjoy Fantasyland. On the other side of Cinderella's Castle from Main Street USA, Fantasyland features a host of rides, including the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, the singing children of "It's a Small World," and the flying elephants of "Dumbo."

      Explore Adventureland which resembles the wilds of world, including Africa, Asia and the South Pacific. Attractions there include the "Pirates of the Caribbean," the ride that inspired the movie series; the jungle cruise and the singing, mechanical "Tiki Birds."

      Have fun in Tomorrowland with technology and space exploration fun. The streamlined, modern area features Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin; Space Mountain, an indoor roller coaster in the dark; and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.

      Visit Frontierland which evokes the spirit of the America West during the early 19th century. Attractions there include the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse.
